In HSU Chia-Wei’s work Drones, Frosted Bats and the Testimony of the Deceased, he filmed an abandoned military factory in Hsinchu during World War II to piece together the special features of Taiwan history. The factory produced aircraft fuel during the war, now the chimneys are home to bats. He used to drone to take pictures of the factory from an unusual altitude, which he then edited with pictures of bats and the image data of the bombers. A computer program was used to combine this with a recording of a staff's memoir made at that time, to simulate the uncertainty of the memory. Aviation is the core idea of this work, both military factory and bats share the same functions; and the existence of those who vanished in silence is testified to through the video and sound.
