作品賞析
HSU Chia-Wei’s work Spirit-writing presents a series of dialogue between the artist and the gods, contemporary art, folk beliefs, and digital and divine worlds. The god in the film is a frog god Marshal, who moved from Wuyi Mountain in China to Mazu because the temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. The artist invited the Ironclad Marshal into the studio and communicated with the Marshal through the Mazu villagers' rituals, asking the original form of the temple in Wuyi Mountain. Through the dynamic capture camera set up in the studio, the movement of the sedan chair is transformed into a 3D animation, and the temple is reconstructed according to the Marshal’s fragmented clues. Through the re-emergence and restoration of historical facts, gods, art, and technology, HSU Chia-Wei presents a paradoxical reality that seems to be visible but cannot be returned back to.
