WU Tzu-Ning applies new media to address on technology development and the body issues. In the film GFP Lab, fruits and vegetables in petri dishes and test tubes are exhibited on the laboratory table, The tester uses a dropper to draw fluorescent dyes in green, pink, orange and yellow which injects into these fruits and vegetables, waits for these plants to absorb them and turn them into psychedelic fluorescent colors. The title, GFP, could refer to the Green Fluorescent Protein used in genetic modification experiments, and also “ Good Food Provider”. But, is genetic modified food really good? WU Tzu-Ning wants people to think of this ethical and artistic issues as it relates to biotechnology while displays this pseudo-sci-fi aesthetics.
