WU Yung-Chieh conveys the process of self-discovery through creations and tells the moods at different stages of life in a seemingly colorful and beautiful appearance. In the work, Hug!Boy!, the irregular frame that looks like an abstractly deformed human figure is one her commonly used method to metaphorize the twists and turns in life. The protagonist in the picture is a little boy. Unlike the artist's past works, which usually omit the expression of the eyes, this actually gives the boy a pair of misty eyes, symbolizing that he can't see his future clearly. The picture is full of dreamy but unrecognizable images, resembling images of memory and perception. WU Yung-Chieh hopes to give viewers the freedom of an endless imagination and present an unknown state of life.
