Saudade

WANG Po-Yen’s new media work is named Saudade. The word "Saudade" is derived from Portuguese, which means the nostalgia for old things and the sentimentality of past times. This work is a digital simulation of the seascape taken during his traveling on a three-dimensional model of a room that he used to live. He believes that the room is like an extension of the body of the inhabitant. Each room carries a certain time and memory with others and himself. The rooms with different views of the sea is like a port, stringing together stories of leaving and coming. WANG Po-Yen explores the sense of belonging with a lyrical imaging narrative and conveys the nomad-like life of a modern human.
