CHEN Li-Ying’s creation often translates the content into a Western-style vocabulary in the form of Chinese landscape paintings. Ink is also replaced by acrylic and canvas, extending the cultural symbols of contemporary society. In the work, Reading Stain, there are two sets of time and space. One is an indoor reading space, and the other is a deformed Eastern oriental landscape, transforming the ink outline of the mountain stone into an angular and colorfully layered mountain. The Chinese landscape painting shows the cosmology of the ancient Chinese, and the values provided by today's Western aesthetic education construct our mode of thinking. CHEN Li-Ying uses the impact of Eastern and Western culture as the starting point and leads viewers to think about modern homesickness, facing the infinite expansion of Internet technology and balancing or blending the cultural heritage of Eastern and Western cultures.
