YANG Chen-Hua collects everyday objects and uses them as the subject of his artworks that aim at recording moments of his life. Elephantnose Fish in Aquarium is an imaginary projection of his inner world. A simple, sparsely decorated fish tank serves as the home where a lonely elephantnose fish lives only with sand and stone. A strangely shaped rock is perched within the tank, upon which grows a few thin, fragile plants. The bumpy texture of the rock is recreated via the montage technique, leaving a blank background that completes the soothing and poetic atmosphere. YANG Chen-Hua often employs his unique fantasies and daily objects to illustrate his personal and emotional memories.
