LIN Yu-Pei uses eastern artistic forms to unearth hidden symbols from figurative objects of everyday life. The artist treats her artwork as a medium for conveying emotions, using metaphorical approaches to convert everyday observations into figurative objects on the canvas. “Futile Efforts” is a work with a montage of museum specimens and worn tiles. The empty sensation left after a Google Earth tour was deliberately presented in the form of blank spaces. The illustration of these items allows the artist to freely unleash the physical and mental sensations as well as the exhausting nature of life that she often kept hidden within herself.
