LIN Yu-Pei’s Fable II is inspired by observations from zoos and botanical gardens, providing a tale about the changing relationships between the human race and nature and its eventual isolation because of modern life. Various plants were shown in fine, elegant colors. The specimen of the Bodhi leaf was died and directly incorporated as an element in the artwork together with fossil specimens of animals. The center of the image is a landscape painting that symbolizes the natural world that is connected to the surrounding plants. The relationship between nature and human started to change with advancements made in modern lifestyles. To create this work and better understand the world, LIN Yu-Pei has collected plant specimens that were used as novel elements in traditional landscape paintings while highlighting the changes happening to the worldview of the human race.
