Next to the Window

LEE Yi-Shuan’s “Next to the Window” is a series of artwork inspired by her concerns for the land. Brilliant, bright colors and figurative artistic techniques were used to portray works that give powerful visuals. Yet underneath the façade of bright colors is a tale about the land in everyday life. One can see cold corrugated metal sheets and asbestos-lined roads everywhere in the city where everything has been converted into well-ordered geometric lines and patches. Natural environments, on the other hand, were kept hidden behind the metal sheets and isolated from people’s lives. LEE Yi-Shuan utilized a montage of natural scenery to highlight the changing and ephemeral nature of landmarks and memories.
