CHIANG Chi-Ming’s wooden sculpture Flexible Bound is a series of observational works based on young girls. The work is an observation of the subconscious body language and reactions of young girls as they face contradictions in everyday life. The girl has a youthful and lovely appearance, yet her hands are placed behind her back and her toes are pointing inwards, portraying a body language that communicates a sense of nervousness. CHIANG Chi-Ming uses a realistic and detailed portrayal of young girls to reflect upon the various aspects of modern life. The work illustrates an innocent generation that carries hope and expectations for the future, experiencing a life with beauty and conflicts, and budding with love yet filled with depressing emotions.
