HUANG Wan-Ling’s panel artwork Traveling Notes-Beijing roast duck; Nangan got drunk by betel nuts; Apparitions of JP; The power of Strawberry generation(1)(2) is an extension of her Supplicant series. A horizontal perspective, carving methods, and the perspective of supplicants depicted in Dunhuang frescoes are used to convey the artist’s observations of modern life and culture. The artwork depicts her personal journeys, lifestyles, popular culture, and inner fantasies and desires of the younger generations in Beijing, Taiwan, and Japan. HUANG Wan-Ling’s artworks focus on storytelling and the passage of time, using a linear timeline to link different settings while portraying the various experiences and fantasies of life.
