LAI Pei-Yu’s artworks investigate the symbols and words that saturate urban landscapes as well as how they connect with our memories and experiences. Another Sky – Meteor is a dynamic video production integrating digital technology to calculate the speed and time of active urban nighttime illumination that sparkle like the stars. The image uses a bird’s eye perspective to portray an urban landscape if lights were the only visible entities. LAI Pei-Yu used this work to showcase the external landscape of the digital civilization and to study how perceptions change as one views the speed and time portrayed by the video.
