WU Shih-Chun uses still life studies and meticulous realist techniques to capture fleeting moments of time. Alchemy shows a metal spoon and two ice cubes placed on a square table surface. Both the spoon and ice cubes reflect light and shadow. The ice, however, is melting, leaving behind a growing puddle of water on the table surface that serves as a reflective surface as well. The background is a gentle pink that highlights the objects while adding to the serenity of the entire composition. WU Shih-Chun created this intricate illustration in order to immerse viewers in the sensation of flowing time.
