The Invisible Connection

YANG Ting-Chien’s The Invisible Connection is a part of the Personal Landscape series. The monotonous composition shows a large and bare tree stump and a second, smaller tree placed within a small, hexagonal, and fenced enclosure. On the surface, it appears that the two trees are unrelated to each other. But the ground surface hides the fact that their roots are tied to each other and deeply connected to the rhythms of the earth. Only years of growth and development were capable of creating this current state. YANG Ting-Chien has once again used artwork depicting natural vegetation as a means to reflect upon connections and relationships between people and the external environment.
