CHEN Chien-Jung’s works are highly structured, with sharp lines and well-defined color patches, creating a unique view of modern urban construction. Landscape 96 employs straight, rigid lines to assemble modern architectural constructs with different three-dimensional shapes and forms. Original designs and lines were retained after making repeated corrections, giving the image a sense of incompletion, uncertainty, and variance to this seemingly perfectly designed construction blueprint. CHEN Chien-Jung made use of this artwork to communicate how the pursuit for precision and speed in modern life has led to desolation and emptiness in our souls.
