CHEN Chien-Jung’s works are highly structured, with sharp lines and well-defined color patches, creating a unique view of modern urban construction. Untitle 08 is a formation of neat lines that provide an accurate illustration of a construction blueprint. Original markings of changed structures were deliberately retained to provide the illustration with an unfinished and uncertain feel. The artwork serves as an analogy to illustrate changing forces that lurk underneath the seemingly static urban landscape. There are always old spaces that must be replaced. Every fleeting moment hides conflicts and tensions between the old and the new.
