CHEN Chien-Jung’s works are highly structured, with sharp lines and well-defined color patches, creating a unique view of modern urban construction. Landscape 82 is an illustration composed of straight lines and overlapping color patches to assemble different building surfaces viewed from different perspectives. These buildings have hard, rigid lines, like modern cities built around steel beams and frameworks. The artist also employed spontaneous techniques to create drips and flows to alleviate the cold, unfeeling sensation that people experience when viewing steel structures. CHEN Chien-Jung has established an alternative means of observing modern urban environments, giving us a new perspective and sensation for reviewing cityscapes.
