HO Yao-Chih is a print artist using both print art and photographic concepts to relay his views of the actual world. Reading Time-6-49 / Lucky Numbers depicts a collection of catalogs listing lucky draw combinations collected from betting stations around Taiwan. These lucky numbers serve as a guide for lottery participants to test their luck. HO Yao-Chih chose to bend these guides in half and stack them tightly together to convey the people’s desire for wealth, allowing us to experience the anxiousness of lottery buyers as the winning combinations are revealed. The black and white presentation also symbolizes fading time, symbolizing a bystander’s objectivity when looking at certain social events.
