CHI Jung-Hao’s ink paintings go back and forth between classical and modern art techniques, where calligraphy is combined with current design elements to showcase ink painting styles with modern elements. State of Being Secluded present a pristine paradise isolated from the rest of the world. The ink painting shows Shanshui trees and rocks that have withstood the test of time, isolated in an ocean that seems to be composed of clouds or grass. This composition is filled with a rhythmic and poetic serenity heavily shadowed in enigma while giving an unmistakable scent of loneliness. The artwork expresses the stages of artistic discovery and pure aesthetics achieved after dispensing with mundane ideas and concepts. CHI Jung-Hao has successfully combined Shanshui painting with his personal emotions, and in the process discovering the meaning of eternity that goes beyond simple lifetimes from the natural world while expressing his personal interpretation and response to harmony, nature, and the journey of life.
