ZHANG Chun-Min believes that “memory” is the starting point of all emotions and the underlying meaning of life. A number of her works is intimately related to family life experienced during her childhood. The Memory depicts 3 dissected sections floating with frightening materials from her memories. Gray, black, or deathly white backgrounds were utilized as ZHANG Chun-Min’s emotional state fluctuates between day and night, introducing confusion elements into the work. The conflicting statuses between 2 extremes often include the elements of chaos. ZHANG Chun-Min also enjoy living between the two extremes, seeking an alternate state of balance in a world of disharmony. This visual montage takes the forms of mundane objects to reconstruct the memory within our brain to create a truly personalized space.
