CHANG Chia-Hung is skilled in using the camera to capture wonderful moments of everyday life. Working Hard… is a shot captured at Hsinchu Beipu during the season of drying persimmons. Two workers are shown in the photograph. The man is busy feeding a skinning machine with persimmons, while the lady in the foreground is carefully arranging skinned persimmons upon the rack for drying. The dark lights and simple chairs provide a vivid illustration of the industrious spirit of the Hakka people. To CHANG Chia-Hung, the focused expressions of the workers remind him of his childhood memories and his grandmother’s house.
