作品賞析
CHIU Yong-Jin is a skilled eastern gouache painter, and most of his works centered on traveling experiences, employing multiple perspectives to review and reinterpret landscapes. Gongliao depicts grayish black mountainous landscapes against a grayish blue sea that each take up half of the composition. An isolated island and lake is provided at the upper left of the picture in order to highlight these secluded nuclear power plants. The artwork portrays Gongliao, the northeastern-most part of Taiwan which is sparsely populated and not subject to excessive human development, which meant that beautiful sceneries should have been preserved in this area. Yet the presence of controversial nuclear power stations has covered the entire place in a grayish undertone. By employing his personal observations in re-assembling landscape and events, the artist has successfully generated new landscapes of his own creation.
