CHANG Yu-Hsin has lived in France, and used sculpting, photography, and large installation artworks to present the organic texture of inorganic items. Dust, carbon powder, and clay have been employed in her sculptures and photography to generate works that are filled with vitality. «Human。Landscape » - Alteration n°4 is a close-up shot of the human body. Fine, grayish-black powder have been scattered on a weathered and pale-colored skin in a way that connects it to the desolate background texture to form a stark contrast. The human form of the foreground has been integrated, in shade and texture, to the ground surfaces in the background. Afar, the picture appears like a desolate mountain-scape. Viewing it up close, however, reveals the delicate ridges and valleys of the skin. The macroscopic landscape and microscopic skin texture has been used to highlight the sensations of desolation and change, allowing viewers to experience a transforming visual journey between the landscape and the body.
