LIN Li-Wei’s Castle on a Cloud depicts a gray, shadowy landscape with several gargantuan industrial constructs composed of chimneys, pipelines, cement columns, and steel scaffolds. Having withstood the trials of time, these constructs have acquired a life of its own, twisting their structures and gaining ever more complicated appearances. The gray clouds surrounding these constructs are excessive exhausts emitted by these constructs, creating an illusion of a sea of clouds. LIN Li-Wei intentionally converted polluting industries into paradise-like citadel atop the clouds as a critique against our nature to sacrifice everything for the sake of development.
