LIN Li-Wei’s works Lonely Island illustrates five different islands composed of rocks. These uninhabited islands stand alone in the vast ocean, but when we look closely, we could see the remains of human civilization, such as old electrical towers being swallowed by surrounding rocks to become an integral part of the island. LIN Li-Wei hints at the possibility that once the human race runs out of resources, everything that we have created would be swallowed by the forces of nature, leaving only glimpses of a civilization that no longer exists.
