CHI Lien was born in Kaohsiung and has over 20 years of experience. In addition to using his brush to depict the beauty of nature, he expresses his inner emotions with great feeling through his work. In Sense and Sensibility 5, CHI Lien used carbon pencils to create a scene of dismal darkness, allowing the charcoal smudges to remain on the canvas, giving the seemingly chaotic composition with a touch of traditional ink painting. In this work, CHI Lien attempted to separate rationality and compare it against the emotional approach of Automatism and identify order within the shades of gray, white, and black. The relaxed and compressed lines express the existence of these objects. These two-factor comparisons of emotional and rational elements not only highlight the unique visual languages utilized, but also generate a whole new emotional state of artistic appreciation through interactive combination.
