作品賞析

Artist LEE Yu-Yuan’s inspiration of creation comes from people from all corners in Taiwan. From prosperous areas to mountain forests, from cities to tribes, the artist integrates individuals with various moods into the vicissitudes of life. His work Outside the Season>Kupicana comes from his memory of his tribal friends. Since 921 Earthquake, mountains in Taiwan experience several unpredictable natural and man-made calamities and several friends of his pass away. After sorrow and agony, he expresses his melancholy and grief for old friends and mountains with his “Outside the Season” series. He creates paintings with the same title after years for consoling old friends and waving farewell to the sorrow in his mind. The artist presents the agony beyond words he sees in Taiwan in paintings through his observation and imagination. He expresses the defects of modern life with strong humanist concerns.
