Artist CHEN Pei-Xin captures creative power from dreams and consciousness. She removes all colors and external appearances of objects and develops the conscious power of body and memory with the black and grey hue. Her work Spore Island is composed of seven paintings. The artist depicts the abstract objects in the image with organic and semi-automatic sketches. The seven paintings are depicting the blossoming petals of chrysanthemum and the fluttering buds. These fluttering buds form several inter-connecting and floating spore islands which symbolize regeneration. The artist lets the spiral patterns grow freely in the image as if they are alive. Reality, dream, and memory flow in an intersectional way on the canvas and get condensed into an abstract and sensitive pattern. Besides expressing the mental emotions, CHEN Pei-Xin also releases her negative oppression in daily life. She conveys the real perception closer to the profound ego.
