The subject matter of LIU Zi-Ping’s work comes from life experience. The overall framework of his recent creative work has turned toward themes of environmental destruction and change. In the upper section of Monologue of a Generation, there’s an industrial plant belching smog, signifying modern-day pollution problems. Tendrils of plants stretch downward, intertwining to form human-like figures. The artist depicts the vastness of the ages from the dawn of time to today’s society, from microscopic images to macroscopic perspectives, conveying a deep concern about survival, the environment and the cycle of life, and leading the viewer to ponder the meaning of continued survival in this world.
