Artist YU Shih-Fu describes the abstract personality traits through the mechanical devices in his work, “The "O" 001.” He uses 6RPM gear motor to provide power, driving the 24 pairs of radiating mechanical connecting rod, so that the 12 pairs of non-transparent acrylic blades gradually swing up and down. The bottom plate is installed with florescent tube that projects to the acrylic blades for radiation. It forms a wheel of lighting movement in the dark that looks like a vital organism breathing quietly. In “The “O”001,” artist controls the tempo and exquisite changes in lighting to turn the rigid and cold mechanical language into organic individuals with vitality.
