Artist Huang Chien-Hua often uses images of animals in his creations. He believes that animals reflect the group life of humans. By exploring the relationship between animals and people, the dialectical thinking between people and the world can be extended. The pigs, mice, rabbits, monkeys, and other animals in his works are often used in human genetic research and play an important, pioneering role in scientific exploration. Huang Chien-Hua deliberately took photos of animals facing the camera and combined them with images of the brains and hearts that he imagined to grow in such an environment. When viewing the works, the eyes of the animals draw the viewers’ gaze. For Huang, the action of “looking” in the photograph creates an emotional connection between the photographer or the viewer and the photographed person. By exchanging gazes with the animals, people become aware of their own existence, reminding them that “people” are actually also mammals.
