作品賞析
Artist Chang Ting-Tong’s works are performed by multimedia such as installation, video, painting, and so on, reflecting the relationship between people, technology, and society. His work SOAP was inspired by the fake news incident about a “soap factory” that occurred while Britain and Germany were fighting during World War I. The soap factory was a plant that processed animal carcasses into soap or other products, but British intelligence agencies deliberately distorted it and turned into a secret factory that dissolved human corpses and made soap for use by the German army. Chang Ting-Tong built a fictional factory in a real factory, interweaving realistic and deliberately designed scenes. In the soap-making process of raw material processing, manufacturing, transportation and management, performance and dance elements were added to present tense and symbolic images. It’s like the soap factory becomes part of the information dissemination chain in contemporary society, implying the ambiguity and multiplicity of the production, whether true and false, in digital information.
