Artist Zhang Hui-Ling often finds herself feeling unused to unfamiliar places, so she depicts the relationship between individuals and familiar places in her series of works “ It Seems Familiar and Understood, But It Also Seems Not to Be Like This .” Zhang Huiling is well-acquainted with using carbon paper to compose her pictures, and then coloring them with Eastern gouache. She uses color blocks to represent gradient changes in light and shadow, and she adds a sense of sparkle to the painting.
