作品賞析
In video games, broken images or graphics will sometimes appear. Huang Yu-Hao, an artist who uses ink as his main creative medium, believes that such situations can open up more room for imagination to the virtual world. Huang Yu-Hao’s “Meliosma” series is inspired by the stiff-leaved Meliosma (Meliosma rigida), a common tree in Taiwan, through which he explores the relationships between people, 3D objects, and the virtual world. He painted this flowering tree realistically rather than as a digital image after 3D modeling, and then used scattered blank spaces to show the “broken image” state. Huang Yu-Hao uses realistic images to evoke the viewer’s experience of playing games and says, “Even in a virtual world that’s almost real and where humans can control everything, there are still things that people cannot control and define. After all, the plants in front of us are not real objects, but just images that look the same.”
