作品賞析
Artist Tseng Ting-Yu has been living in China since 2018. His frequent trips across the Taiwan Strait have made him feel the changes in language and living habits, just like the terms “accompanying dancers” and “accompanying fliers” in the title of the work, which are synonymous but different words. Their lives, language, and culture have long been completely different. He transformed his emotions and experiences into a series of ink-based creations. He referred to the composition of the landscape painting One River, Two Banks by Yuan Dynasty master Ni Zan to correspond to the geographical location of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait; the rich and complex colors in the picture were inspired by the Dunhuang murals. The water surface, which is covered with large pieces of gold foil, will present different luster at various angles, enriching the viewer’s visual experience. Tseng Ting-Yu uses strong colors and unpredictable gold foil light and shadow to achieve a balance, and the two figures riding birds in the painting, seemingly chasing each other, bring a touch of humor to the overall atmosphere.
