作品賞析
During the COVID-19 shutdown period, artist Chen Ching-Yao could only breathe freely on the roof of his home, often looking at the sky, and having gloomy thoughts for instance, “Maybe I’ll never be able to go abroad again.” Thus, he combined this idea with images of the Air Force and of beautiful girls that he had always wanted to draw, and created the “Love’s Landing” series to reflect on what the pandemic would leave behind for Taiwan, for the era, or history. Chen Ching-Yao used strong contrasting colors and compositions full of tension in order to create a dramatic atmosphere. In this work, we look upward to see girls parachuting down from the sky. The sky and the buildings enclosing it are the Taipei’s sky and architectural scenery, which Chen Ching-Yao began to notice only because of the shutdown. For the artist, the pandemic was like an unexpected disaster with the girls making emergency landings via parachutes symbolizing redemption.
