作品賞析
The work Mirror Worlds belongs to artist Hsieh Fu Yuan’s “Transparent World” series, which mainly explores the sense of dissonance caused by people’s “looking without seeing” at the unreasonable phenomena in our lives. The painting adopts the level distance composition in landscape, and most of the scenery is repeated in mirror images that represent parallel worlds in different times and spaces. The little boy in the center is wandering around, mending regret, and building a more complete self and ideal life, while Maitreya Buddha above, representing the future, is smiling at everything. Hsieh Fu Yuan first sketched an image, then used a digital tool to scan it, form a mirror image by flipping it, and combining the two images together; this was then printed out on silk. This was then covered over by silk and painted over, giving the painting a clear texture with added layers and details. In terms of palette, he was inspired by the Cochin ceramics which are commonly used to decorate Taiwanese temples, and he deliberately chose similar colors to cleverly and subtly integrate Taiwanese elements into the work.
