In Accumulated Imagination, artist Tsai Wan-Ning explores the relationship between the human body, manmade soft objects, and natural terrain. Her inspiration stems from the undulating lines of the human body visible in a quilt when resting it, resembling rolling mountains. To create this work, she first photographed the quilts and fabrics at home, then used graphics software to transform these images into mountain-like forms. The processed image was integrated with painting techniques, while paper imprint techniques were employed to depict body contours and the texture of human skin flakes. In contrast to the softness and bodily traces of the quilt mountains, Tsai chose to evoke a harder sensation in the cloud above. By overshadowing the entire mountain with the cloud, she conveys the pressure exerted by the environment on the body.
