Artist Hsu Chun-Chun once lived in the Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park in Taichung as an artist-in-residence an experience that had a significant impact on her future creations. During her residency, she began to explore and experiment with different media, while also reconsidering the relationship between body perception, spatial fields, and creation. For her “Covering the Scenery” series, she first applies cement paint as a primer to smooth the surface of the wooden boards, allowing the colors of the acrylic paint to stand out. She then incorporates large color blocks, combining them with collages made from various types of paper and mixing transparent and opaque colors. Within the square format of each work, she arranges a richly layered composition full of poetry. Covering the Scenery 05 predominantly features bright yellow, green, and pink. The upper layer is outlined with fine brushstrokes that depict clouds, while the lower layer reveals and an elegant pastoral scene. The painting exudes a cheerful, lively atmosphere.
