Human vision has a certain range, and the eyes “frame” the world in a way. The artist Chou Yo-Chen tries to think about how to break the boundaries of this frame through her creation by exploring two themes: “infinity in the picture” and “extending the image beyond the frame.” Two huge fish fins are hidden in Fish Flow. The fish are swimming in clockwise and counterclockwise directions, forming an “infinity symbol” (∞) and showing an endlessly rhythmic cycle. Chou Yu-Chen used a technical pen to draw the fine lines and layer upon layer of oil pastels to create a beautiful, dream-like, richly layered picture. The brilliant colors and meticulous details spread across the field of vision, allowing the viewer to mentally extend the imagery limitlessly beyond and within the frame.
