作品賞析
The artist Lu Chin-Lung here transformed himself into a city stroller, following a method of observation among Chinese traditional painters: to “go step by step and look at every face.” He walked around the city with a detached attitude, feeling and thinking about the atmosphere of urban spaces. In Roaming, he adjusted the gouache to soft colors, and he used indistinct brushstrokes to draw urban images filled with personal memories. These urban images were freely rearranged and pieced back together in the four corners of the painting, and an obtrusive pink was applied across the center to separate the dense buildings on the upper left and the large trees by the sidewalk on the lower right, producing a sense of contrast. However, the two sides were cleverly connected with a line of “guide bricks” used by blind pedestrians. By making such constant adjustments, Lu Chin-Lung gave the city a completely different scenery. Besides creating his own personal images, he gave viewers room for imagination.
