作品賞析
The artist Tseng Wei-Hao was inspired by visualizing sound through the vibration of media such as sand or water in acoustic cymatics (acoustic fluid dynamics). He began to use conductive ink, amplifiers, and other conductive materials to create works with an aural component with which viewers can physically interact. In Watching the Sounds–46 Hz, it is the background that is painted with conductive ink; the spiderweb-like pattern is unpainted, showing the color of the wood panel, but it is an image of 46 Hz sound waves. Tseng first took photos of the 46 Hz sound wave pattern, divided the image into many pieces, and then printed it on the wood with conductive ink to form a complete pattern. The work is also equipped with a touch feedback device, which produces a sound when touched. Viewers can move the wooden piece left and right to change the image, adjust the fluid wave effect, and touch the work to make sound. The work interacts with viewers’ bodies to create a unique “state of the moment.”
