The artist Lin Hou Cheng is good at using unique effects of light, shadow, and black space to present the lonely, anxious, and fragile feelings of staring into space. For this work, he took a series of photos of a luminous cube that he set in different spaces. Lin Hou Cheng regards the photo shoot scene as a stage for human action, and chooses spaces between natural and artificial environments as background. The glowing cube creates a new scene as its light cuts through the dark spaces. Lin also deliberately chooses warm and dramatic light sources that can bring the surrounding scenery into the realm of imagination. A cube shining in the dark can become an isolated space or a space of hope, illuminating the surroundings and bringing warmth and courage.
