作品賞析
Obtaining all kinds of information through electronic screens is actually something based on human inventions only in the past hundred years. Artist Hsieh Yu-Cheng thinks that “fluorescent light can present a special visual experience showing the difference between color and colored light.” Therefore, he uses fluorescent paint as a creative medium to present the experience of looking at digital images, thereby exploring the interactive relationship between images and luminous screens. On computer or LED screens, the expression of color comes from the RGB color model, meaning that the various colors are synthesized by combining different proportions of red, green, and blue. In this work, Star Cluster, he used the RGB colors as a model but manually painted them with fluorescent paint to simulate the rapid changes of light signals. The screen uses three fluorescent colors—red, green, and white—to form a pixel grid. The three colors depend on the texture and traces of the brushstrokes to form different patterns, layer by layer, and they emit fluorescent light under what is projected from the projection lamp. If you pay attention to close detail, you can also detect the interaction between “light” and image.
