作品賞析
In the past few decades, many people have been fantasizing about being abducted by space aliens for research purposes. However, what people have been doing to satisfy their own desires—developing civilization and destroying the environment in the process—is not much different from what they imagine the aliens to be doing. Through his works, the artist Tsao Wen-Jui calls on humankind to respect all of the life on earth. In Sample Collection, we see a room in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, which was designed by Tadao Ando. The ceiling glows with a cool bluish-gray color, and a futuristic-looking flying saucer hovers there. There are many hidden metaphors here. For example, the penguin floating in the air is also a human in a tuxedo, and the penguin’s shadow on the floor is shaped like either a bomb, which destroys life, or a rocket, which promotes civilization. As for the doors on the left and right sides of the painting, the light from outside seems to guide us to enter either one—where will we humans choose to go in the end?
