Chou Ming-Yi, an artist living in Spain, is adept at printmaking. His prints show a sense of space and harmony, using a wide variety of colors and lines and unique abstract ideas. His “Time Series” of works use contrasting bright tones and darker hues to construct images with strong visual effects. Time Series 1 uses bright yellow as the background color. There is a huge gray curly object in the center of the painting. With its powerful, organic lines, it is like a chrysalis about to grow. Two dotted dark blue lines surround it, while yellow lines and waves of lower brightness constantly overlap the background color, thus extending the depth and rich layering of the composition. The black flowers broken up in the background and the various Baroque-style arches also seem to fill it with beating rhythm.
