作品賞析

The inspiration for these creations by Chang Kai-Hsiang are inspired by childhood memories of and feelings for Lego blocks. For him, the process of putting the blocks together was a way of shaping his own characteristics and values. Therefore, in his works, the building blocks or geometric figures resembling building blocks and the palette with pure, intense colors are ways of connecting with his childhood; they also represent moments of self-reflection. His hashtag (#) series of works use the four simple colors of green, yellow, blue, and red, and their numbers follow the color number of the paint. Simple, bright colors seem to take us back to the simple days of childhood. A large number of building blocks have gone into the building of mighty fortresses, in which little children can take refuge—they are as stable as a mother’s womb. Through this series of works, Chang Kai-Hsiang expresses the abiding innocence of the childlike heart deep within himself.
