作品賞析
CHANG Kai-Hsiang uses toy bricks as a theme to describe childhood. His work Hazy Childhood includes two realistic oil paintings. The right one depicts irregularly stacked toy bricks with flat brushstrokes, and the left one represents a missing corner on one toy brick. The canvas is thinly painted in pale pink, dotted with pink blue dots just like the imprint of a bubble wrap or bumps of toy bricks. The irregular shapes of the toy bricks symbolize the fading of childhood memories. The broken corner may represent unpleasant memories, which will eventually be pulled away. By portraying his childhood, CHANG Kai-Hsiang reorganizes the process of self-cognition, keeping the favorite toy bricks and beautiful moments.
