YEH Po-Yu conveys his thoughts and attitudes towards life with his amusing ink paintings. The work, On the Sidelines-Eat Noddle No.2, is one of the creations of his "Middle-Aged Man" series. The three characters in the painting are on a thrilling ride. Two of them seem to be too scared so they cover their heads with paper bags. Only the middle-aged man is eating noodles calmly and watching everything in front of him. YEH Po-Yu uses the Taiwanese proverb "Others are eating noodles but you are screaming hot", disassembles the phrasing, and turns the image into a funny saying, "Others are busy but I am eating noodles". Through humor, he shows the repressive emotions of fatherly figures in the face of mid-life crisis.
